The Vision of PowerFan
Blockchain technology has transformed the internet from an internet of data where people can easily go to find and exchange information, to an internet of value where now real value can be exchanged digitally without a third party.
OpenSea.io has demonstrated that this is possible for artwork with the minting of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which is in effect, a virtual certificate of authenticity that can not only be traced to the artist, but the smart contract itself can be programmed to send royalties to the original creator, every time it changes hands.
Our vision here at PowerFan is to use the blockchain to empower fans and their favorite content creators and authors to participate in an enhanced added value exchange when interacting with each other. The smart contracts on the blockchain can allow for authors and content creators to offer not just a book or e-course, but allow for NFT holders to be allowed exclusive access to bonus chapters of a book already released, 1-on-1 meetups with their favorite creators, tickets to retreats, and so much more, for so much less than even a Patreon account would allow.
Our vision also includes the opportunity for fans to use our PFAN tokens to subscribe to a complete library of content with our up-and-coming e-book reader. So for the small price of a book per month, fans can have access a library of content available to enjoy.
Authors who publish books retail can lose up to 70%+ from traditional retail publishing. People who publish direct with Amazon surrender 30% in royalties. They fare little better. PowerFan uses the power of the blockchain and smart contracts to retain a considerable portion of that reward back to the authors and creators who toiled so long in creating a work for many to enjoy.
Another part of our vision includes the opportunity for creators to be able to stake our PFAN Tokens in exchange for their very own creator-centric tokens, giving them even more governance and control over the value of their content and how they interact with their fan base.
